Generally speaking Spanish weather offers warm temperatures between April to the beginning of November as standard. There is however considerable variation for weather forecasts in Spain dependent on location. Central Spanish regions see more extremes, for example Madrid can see freezing temperatures in December and January (and can begin to get cold with crisp clear sunlight beginning of November), whilst in the peak summer months of June, July and August Madrid temperatures broil into the 30s and many escape the city to the Mediterranean coast. Barcelona weather sits neatly into the pattern of the coastal Mediterranean climate and sees much more mild and humid conditions than inland cities such as Madrid, Zaragoza and Valladolid. Spain covers a huge geographical area, with numerous high sierras and mountain ranges (the Pyrenees). The coastal Mediterranean climate aside, you'll see variable weather patterns overall. The Cantabrian coast to the north sees a mild climate with high rainfall. Summer temperatures here though are pleasant, rarely exceeding 25 degrees centigrade. The higher areas, for example the Pyrenees, the Cantabrian Mountains and the Sierra Nevada experience a harsher climate over the winter months into early spring. Perfect for Spain skiing holidays. Spanish holiday weather along the Costas and the Mediterranean coast from the Costa Brava on the northern stretch to the Costa del Sol in the far Andalucian south has been attracting European holidaymakers in their droves since the late 1950s. Costa Del Sol and Torremolinos offer around 300 to 320 guaranteed days of bright sunshine annually with a mean temperature of 18 degrees centigrade, and peak temperatures in high season (June to September) up in the late 20s centigrade. The cooling breezes on the Mediterranean coast take the edge of high temperatures, making for perfect family beach holiday resort conditions.
With its typical warm Mediterranean climate, Barcelona makes for a pleasant city break all year round. This combined with its many tourist attractions and 5km of urban beach area at Barceloneta makes it a perfect holiday destination.

The Costa Del Sol coast benefits from the Med's cooling sea breezes, so temperatures in peak season are less oppressive than Andalucian inland locations. Torremolinos benefits from the shelter of the Sierra de Mijas mountains.
Outside of the peak summer months of June, July, August and September (when rain is unheard of and temperatures sit around 28/29 degrees centigrade and sometimes higher) you've superb cooler springtime and autumntime temperatures in both May and October. These are great months for visitors looking to explore the Costa Del Sol further afield either by car rental or excursions. It's easy to get caught out by Madrid weather, which is rather different than Spain's east coast resorts and the coastal cities of Barcelona and Valencia.
Madrid's climate is more extreme. Winters are colder and dryer, indeed temperatures are colder here in early autumn when on the coast they'll still be potentially up in the 20s centigrade. It's dryer here in the centre of Spain, and rainfall is less - although cold Madrid often experiences clear and bright sunshine. What rain comes tends to fall in autumn and spring, but February is a month known to be often strangely warm! The colder winter months of December and January tend to be less busy months in Madrid. Certainly no worse than a British winter, these are good months to head to Madrid to avoid the very long queues to popular attractions such as the Prado Museum and cable car ride at Casa de Campo.
The peak three summer months - June, July and August can be unbearably hot, although if you function well in very high temperatures again you're likely to avoid the queues for Madrid attractions, as many locals particularly leave the city centre.
Average maximum and minimum temperatures for Madrid in degrees centigrade are as follows, Jan 9/2, Feb 11/2, March 15/5, April 18/7, May 21/10, June 27/15, July 31/17, Aug 30/17, Sept 25/14, Oct 19/10, Nov 13/5 and Dec 9/2.
In peak summer season visitors can expect sunshine all the way in Benidorm and along the Costa Blanca coast, with average temperature in the summer months 26 degrees centigrade, and often pushing into the 30s. Benidorm has around 3,400 hours of sunshine annually. Winter temperatures are around a pleasant 15 degrees centigrade. All comes together perfectly in Benidorm - great beaches, a superb climate, a choice of holiday attractions and excursions, a fine paseo maritimo, a huge choice of lively bars, restaurants and nightlife shows and clubs galore.
